Mentorship

One thing I have noticed that is expedient for growth in every sphere of life is mentorship and this can come in different forms. You can never under estimate the power one a man who has people to learn from and climb on their shoulders.

I was in a workshop recently and the speakers even though didn't meet the previous speakers session ended up with the same point which is "to rise to the peak in life we need a guide someone who has more experience or expertise in our desire field". I find this to be very true, many are gifted with so much energy but are finding it hard to rise beyond where they are and several mistakes are made because there is no oversight.

Taking examples from the world, I see musicians, actors, researchers, ministers, and so on, who came to limelight because they had a mentor: someone to guide them, someone they can leverage on their platform or reputation or learn from.

Even in vocations, it is a common place for an apprentice to have an instructor they learn from till they can stand alone or produce very good results. This is to show that we can not make much progress being independent we need other people to grow. This does not in anyway eliminate the fact that as individuals we also need to build ourselves and sharpen our skills.

The best means of mentorship is one on one but in our world today I have seen a lot of people mentored by reading books, stories, or weekly newsletters of individuals they regard in a particular sphere of life. Also by listening to interviews or interactions of these respected people. The story of the rich dad poor dad came to mind as well of how Robert Kiyosaki learnt some tangible lessons on finance from his friends dad, this is one amongst many other examples.

There is no limit to what we can learn from those we admire, the mistakes most people make is to forget that everyone has there flaws, so we need to avoid any negative pattern we might notice and pick the needed lesson to forge ahead.

Things are way easy when we have a shoulder to climb on, we see farther and clearer, we are able to navigate our path easily without wasting time. The idea behind having a successor is also linked to mentorship, no one should expect a successor if they have not poured themselves out or trained anyone as a leader.

There are stories about people who have been hurt by selfish leaders, this should not scare you from making a decision or search on people in your specific line of interest to learn from and also make contact with them if possible. Being open minded is every important, willingness to learn, and learning to honour this people is also cogent.

There is more to mentorship than we know, so much can be gained, enjoyed when under the right mentor, you would be forever grateful. The people you listen to, read about or pay attention to their contents can play a major role in shaping your mindset and outlook in life. Do a careful search and choose your mentors wisely, you can check the various areas of your life you need growth and choose your mentors.

I hope this has helped, do drop in the comment section your favorite mentors and their specialization for those who might need this information. Cheers to a fruitful and amazing life.

Keep growing, with love from me.

Planted or Buried?

I saw a big banner with the words "Planted or Buried?" while on the move. Let's take a quick look at the difference between burying and planting something. To bury according to the Oxford Dictionary means to put or hide underground, it can also mean to cover (someone or something) completely. To plant according to Merriam-Webster dictionary means to put or set in the ground for growth , to set or sow with seeds or plants. In life, it can be easy to confuse being buried and being planted as they may appear similar at first glance. However, with time, it becomes clear that there is a distinct difference between the two. The beauty of these definitions lies in the fact that planting is intended to bring forth growth and new beginnings, even though it begins with being placed and covered. On the other hand, burying is intended to bring about decay or complete death. Planted or buried? When something is planted, it suggests that it still has a purpose and that a process of gro...
