Never stop learning

I went for a visit and my two nephews were watching cartoons and one of them played Monster University, with the way he was talking I knew he had watched it several times so I didn't want him to play it because of the monster factor but he did after all. I have also seen it before but it has been long and was not sure if I completed watching the first time.

So we had an Easter conference in church early this year and something struck me while the preacher was talking, the cartoon painted the picture of what had been illustrated. It talked about how we have received so much by redemption and sacrifice of Jesus but we need to stay in the place of studying the word (Eating and chewing the word till it becomes life) and the place of prayer.

Many spend 3-6 hours praying but it is not birthed from the place of studying the word to rightly apply the truth. Some things need obedience, while some need developing your skills, and some require building character and renewing your mindset.

So hearing all this made me remember the scene where James one of the sons of the renowned scarer only felt because it's in his blood never studied different ways to scare or when to use a particular type of scare trick.

But Mike the key character on the other hand even though he wasn't considered as good, improved his skill by studying and giving himself to practice and at the final exams he passed so well while the one with the natural trait who didn't improve his skills or learn more failed.

There is work to do if we truly want to shine as light in every sphere of life. We are extraordinary, unique, hardworking, excellent, and blessed, so let's put in the work required. We can't do away with learning and gaining the skills necessary for our journey.

You are worth the investment. Cheers to a growing you.

Mentorship

One thing I have noticed that is expedient for growth in every sphere of life is mentorship and this can come in different forms. You can never under estimate the power one a man who has people to learn from and climb on their shoulders. I was in a workshop recently and the speakers even though didn't meet the previous speakers session ended up with the same point which is "to rise to the peak in life we need a guide someone who has more experience or expertise in our desire field". I find this to be very true, many are gifted with so much energy but are finding it hard to rise beyond where they are and several mistakes are made because there is no oversight. Photo credit: istockphoto.com Taking examples from the world, I see musicians, actors, researchers, ministers, and so on, who came to limelight because they had a mentor: someone to guide them, someone they can leverage on their platform or reputation or learn from. Even in vocations, it is a common place for an a...

Planted or Buried?

I saw a big banner with the words "Planted or Buried?" while on the move. Let's take a quick look at the difference between burying and planting something. To bury according to the Oxford Dictionary means to put or hide underground, it can also mean to cover (someone or something) completely. To plant according to Merriam-Webster dictionary means to put or set in the ground for growth , to set or sow with seeds or plants. In life, it can be easy to confuse being buried and being planted as they may appear similar at first glance. However, with time, it becomes clear that there is a distinct difference between the two. The beauty of these definitions lies in the fact that planting is intended to bring forth growth and new beginnings, even though it begins with being placed and covered. On the other hand, burying is intended to bring about decay or complete death. Planted or buried? When something is planted, it suggests that it still has a purpose and that a process of gro...
